Collection, redistribution and recycling of soccer equipment in Nouvelle-Aquitaine ⚽♻️

Since the start of 2023, and just like last year, Football Ecologie France member clubs in Nouvelle-Aquitaine have been mobilizing to collect soccer equipment as part of the Football Mission association's 3rd edition of the eco-solidaire program. ⚽♻️

The materials and equipment used by soccer clubs are a real environmental issue. Over-consumption, waste treatment, responsible, sustainable and ethical sourcing... The environmental and social issues raised by this theme are as numerous as the impacts it generates.

In the merciless world of soccer, awareness among producers and consumers is nonetheless growing, and a number of initiatives and ideas are emerging:

- Eco-design of equipment

- Sustainable consumption

- Life cycle assessment

- Reuse, redistribution, second life, recycling

- Circular economy

Soccer Écologie France supports its member clubs in adopting a virtuous approach to this issue, from the choice of distributor to the second life of the equipment they use.

On this last point, we offer clubs solutions to help them move towards zero-waste (sports recycling centers, barter and jumble sales, redistribution...) and thus raise public awareness.

With this in mind, our clubs in New Aquitaine took part in the collection and redistribution program run by Football Mission. Nearly 6m3 of equipment was collected and assembled at the Stade Sainte Germain during the Stade Bordelais - Onet-le-Chateau match on March 09. 🏟️

In addition to reducing the amount of waste produced by the clubs, they also contribute to the development of sporting and educational activities in countries that are largely lacking in equipment. This operation was also an opportunity to bring together different players (league, professional and amateur clubs, associations...) in a concrete cooperation approach for a more sustainable and responsible soccer ♻️

Our sincere thanks to all the participating clubs, the Ligue de Football Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the District de la Dordogne, FC Girondins de Bordeaux and GliTech for their donations and participation in the operation!

Participating clubs: FC Angliers SM (86), UA Niort Saint Florent (79), US Chartrons (33), Coqs Rouges de Bordeaux (33), US JSA CPA (33), RC Chambéry, SAG Cestas (33), FC Saint Médard en Jalles (33), ABP Saint Médard en Jalles (33), Stade Bordelais (33), FC Gauriaguet Peujard (33), AS Chambéry (33), FC Arsac Le Pian Médoc (33), US Cenon Foot (33)
