On January 21, FEF's member clubs in Gironde got together to collect soccer equipment as part of Football Mission's eco-solidarity program ⚽

The materials and equipment used by soccer clubs are a real environmental issue. Over-consumption, waste treatment, responsible, sustainable and ethical sourcing... The environmental and social issues raised by this theme are as numerous as the impacts it generates.

In the merciless world of soccer, awareness among producers and consumers is nonetheless growing, and a number of initiatives and ideas are emerging:

- Eco-design of equipment

- Sustainable consumption

- Life cycle assessment

- Reuse, redistribution, second life, recycling

- Circular economy

Soccer Écologie France supports its member clubs in adopting a virtuous approach to this issue, from the choice of distributor to the second life of the equipment they use.

On this last point, we offer clubs solutions to help them move towards zero-waste (sports recycling centers, barter and jumble sales, redistribution...) and thus raise public awareness.

With this in mind, our clubs in New Aquitaine took part in the collection and redistribution program run by Football Mission. Nearly 3m3 of equipment was collected at the Stade Bordelais - Moulins Yzeure match 🏟️

Soccer Mission focuses on 3 main themes:
- Raising awareness of sustainable development (through the 17 sustainable development goals set by the UN)
- Collecting, redistributing and recycling soccer equipment
- International solidarity (with a sustainable dimension)

"We have two main principles: that of passing on messages to raise awareness of the world around us, and that of taking action through concrete, respectful and sustainable actions."

"Solidarity, citizenship and the environment" 🌍

In addition to reducing the amount of waste produced by the clubs, they also contribute to the development of sporting and educational activities in countries that are largely lacking in equipment. This operation was also an opportunity to bring together different players (league, professional and amateur clubs, associations...) in a concrete cooperation approach for a more sustainable and responsible soccer ♻️
