Stade Brestois 29 unveils an innovative scheme to encourage fans to opt for sustainable mobility
With fan transport accounting for between 75% and 95% of a sporting event's carbon footprint, more and more players are looking for solutions. Stade Briochin, through its "Mai à vélo" initiatives, has shown that fun activities can effectively mobilize fans around sustainable mobility. Now, Stade Brestois 29 is following up with an innovative program that illustrates its strong commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. We take a closer look at its new program, "Viens donc faire un tour à Le Blé", which reinforces the work already underway to promote eco-friendly mobility.
A scheme to reward eco-supporters
As part of its "Bon Air de Brest" CSR program, and with the support of the Brittany Region,"Viens donc faire un tour à Le Blé" encourages fans to rethink the way they travel on match days. The project is based on the use of the WEFLO application, which enables users to accumulate points by adopting sustainable modes of transport: on foot, by bike or scooter, by carpooling or using public transport. These points can then be exchanged for attractive rewards such as discounts on club shirts, special offers from local partners or even for further ticket purchases for upcoming matches.
How does it work in practice?
For the club's supporters, the process is very simple: all they have to do is download the WEFLO application for Android or iOS, create an account and then join the club's program using a specific code. The user must then activate "Automatic Detection", and that's it: the app will then record the fan's route to and from the next match, and award points for the journey, up to a maximum of 300 points.

A participatory approach to prepare for the future
The club plans to use the second half of the season as a pilot phase, enabling it to gather feedback from fans and improve the system over time. Stade Brestois is even planning to set up a working group to co-construct future developments of this initiative.
By adopting such an approach, SB29 is setting an example and joining a positive dynamic to transform practices around sporting events. The program complements the facilities already set up by the club, such as car-sharing facilities and secure bicycle parking.
The Football Ecologie France association is proud to support the club in its approach, and we are delighted by the growing commitment of clubs to a major issue such as mobility. We hope that the Stade Brestois and its program will inspire other teams to embark on similar initiatives.
